Small changes

It’s Tuesday morning and I’m taking a break from pitch work to make some sourdough bread. Yes, I’m sticking with it.

I use my handy scraper tool to shape the dough and lift the sticky parts off the counter: small, easy, upward motions from every angle.

And it occurs to me, this is the same motion we can use to shape and “un-stick” ourselves: small upward changes, from multiple angles.

When we release even the smallest “stuck” parts of our approach to new business, we get stronger and a lot more interesting.

But it’s not easy to see these bits of stuck-ness. Is it just the way we are? You have your own presentation style, but how much of it works? What would it look like if you questioned it? What would it look like to open your meetings differently? To
change how you ask questions? To be braver in pitches?

Small changes equal movement and and it’s easier to pivot if we’re already moving.
